Anushka Nair

PhD, started 2025

Anushka is a DPhil student in the OATML Group at the University of Oxford, under the co-supervision of Yarin Gal and Sir Nigel Shadbolt. Her research interests broadly span the development of AI systems capable of robust reasoning and generalization across diverse real world contexts. She is particularly interested in how advances in reasoning and decision-making can enable AI agents to act more beneficially in high impact domains. Before joining Oxford, Anushka completed a Master of Engineering and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her previous work includes improving large language models’ abilities to identify nuanced misinformation under Professor David Rand at MIT, helping launch the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI (HLAB-AI), and building energy products at Tesla. She is funded by the Rhodes Scholarship.
